Family Testimonials
Here is a selection of testimonials from the families we serve in Omagh District.
I wish I had got in contact with Home-Start sooner because I had just moved to the area and was very isolated. I clicked right from the start with my volunteer, and she supported me through the worst tome of my post-natal depression and knew what to do and she listened too. To be honest, I don’t know where I would be today without Home-Start
After meeting with the coordinator, she mentioned she thought she had a suitable volunteer match for our family, and she certainly did! From the initial meeting with my volunteer I knew she was going to be a great fit with our family My boys loved to see her coming and were excited to play, to sing songs and play outside with her I was also delighted as I got to spend some quality time with my newborn baby and also to do the mundane but necessary chores around the house. We also on one occasion took the boys to a local playhouse which was brilliant as it’s something I couldn’t manage on my own. Knowing my Home-Start volunteer was coming in each Monday morning I knew I had adult conversation to look forward to in addition to all she did for our family.
My Home-Start volunteer was a great help. She was an ear to listen to my problems and always offed great advice. She helped motivate me to do more, improved my moods and helped me exercise more. She gave me confidence to go out and get into groups and make friends. She helped me emotionally and mentally and I’m in a better place now, which has not only helped me but also my daughter and my relationship with my partner.
The boys and I looked forward to her visits. She helped with homework, played with the children, and was a great friend. Home-Start Omagh is a great service and one that is really needed in our community.
To say the Home-Start team and my volunteer are a blessing would be a huge understatement. My volunteer goes above and beyond. She adores my boys as much as they adore her. They cannot wait until Monday when they know she is coming, and I look forward to seeing her coming just as much.
My Home-Start volunteer has been an amazing addition to my family and my life as a whole. She has shown me light in the darkness, has been by my side in happy times and especially in the most difficult periods of my life. I, as a mother, have learnt so much from her. As a person, I have grown and blossomed with hr guidance and advice. My life would have lost out if not for the amazing service that put my Home-Start volunteer with me. Thank you so much for the service and friendship I have received. Absolutely priceless.
There are no amounts of words that could describe how helpful and valuable our volunteer was to us during a very difficult and demanding time. If only every new mum could avail of a volunteer in the 1st year!
I feel Home-Start is a brilliant service especially for me, a mother of 3 children under the age of four. Having the volunteer gives me time to do practical chores around the house while the volunteer dedicates her time to the children.
When my health visitor spoke to me regarding Home-Start and the possibility of having a volunteer come in to assist me for a couple of hours a week I was delighted as I live in a rural area, have very little support from family, have three children under the age of 3 and my husband works for himself so there’s no option for taking much time off.
I cannot commend Home-Start enough and all the hard work that goes on placing appropriate volunteers into people’s homes. It was a great benefit to me and to our family.
The support of my Home-Start volunteer it means that I’m not trying to do 5 things at once. I really look forward to the visit and it’s just so easy. We naturally fall into a rhythm of what needs to be done and the fact that she is so lovely makes such a difference. I feel we have a good relationship. Towards the end of the visit, she will stop and have a cuppa and a chat with me, and those times are great as I get some adult company.
